Free for All Foundation (FFAF) is a community-based, charitable organization that provides youth, seniors, and their families with a wide range of services and programs to promote their well-being. FFAF aims to create sustainable, dynamic, and accessible children and youth programs and opportunities in the Region of Peel to support young people in becoming successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors to society, and responsible citizens.

Students of all ages are experiencing the 'virtual' classroom. But it DOES NOT mean that students have to learn without help (assistive teaching), and that's where YOU as a volunteer for Eye2Eye Tutoring come in! By the use of ‘virtual' communications technology, you will help students continue learning through eLearning with your multi-faceted involvement: tutor/teacher, progress monitor, and in doing so, you will contribute towards your students' educational development and overall health and wellness. Description

The Eye2Eye volunteers will work with both Ontario elementary & secondary school systems that are in-person learning or have been converted to 'eLearning' in 'virtual' collaboration with one or more students. YOU the volunteer will be assigned, functioning as a tutor/teacher to both aid/reinforce learning and assess the student’s progress. Ideally, the tutoring sessions ONLINE will take place on a weekly basis (no weekends). The Tutors may also be assisting and or teaching one or more subjects (e.g. English, Math, Science, Language(s), etc.). PLUS, help the student develop good studying habits both in school and at home.

PLEASE APPLY IMMEDIATELY, as the program is ACTIVE NOW (and by no later than January 31, 2022). Volunteers who do not have a volunteer 'profile' within Volunteer MBC's Referral System should create a 'profile'. Thank you!

Qualifications

  • Ability to be a role model while promoting a productive and healthy learning environment
  • You have a strong knowledge/skills in whatever subject(s) that you choose to teach/tutor
  • Prior teaching/tutoring experience is helpful (not required)
  • Use your passion about educating and helping youth to grow while enhancing your teaching/tutoring skills in a 'virtual' environment
  • Familiar with Ontario's educational 'curriculum' for whatever grade/level that you wish to tutor
  • An excellent communicator while also being friendly and engaging
  • Conversant in English (fluency in additional language(s) is welcome)
  • You possess a device (laptop, PC, tablet), plus you have reliable access to the Internet and are comfortable with using 'virtual meeting' software such as ZOOM
  • You are able to volunteer with student(s) until June, 2022

Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Afternoon, Monday Evening, Tuesday Afternoon, Tuesday Evening, Wednesday Afternoon, Wednesday Evening, Thursday Afternoon, Thursday Evening, Friday Afternoon, Friday Evening

WEEKDAYS > Late afternoon and evening sessions

An agreed SCHEDULE will depend on availability and you being matched with your student being tutored, having regard to their availability and subjects to be taught.
Training

Applicants should be prepared to undergo a 'virtual screening' process and any mandatory training.
