GoalRoots Community Services (RootsCS) is committed to strengthening and enhancing the quality of life of families and individuals, by providing culturally sensitive programs, support, resources, education and training. The goal of the online tutoring position is to teach literacy/numeracy skills (improving levels of competence and confidence) in youth ages 6 - 16 years, in the Region of Peel who require additional academic support. It is our hope to accomplish this through the support given by caring, understanding, and committed individuals who will take on the role of Volunteer Online Tutor. DescriptionThe Volunteer Online Tutor role in English, Math, French, Science & Arts involves:

Qualifications
PLEASE NOTE: Because tutoring is necessarily closely involved with minors (children), a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for Volunteers over the age of 18 years old. SCREENING of applicants for this 'role' will be remote ('virtual') during COVID-19 (telephone/email/interview(s) via 'Google Meets') Police Check: Required Resume:Required Driver's Licence: Not required Proof of Vaccination: Not required |

Time CommitmentThis is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2022-01-24
Shifts are available Anytime TUTORING will be 'virtual' (online) and can be in a group or 1:1, during AFTERNOON's and EARLY EVENING's. We are not ruling out weekends in terms of scheduling. Tutoring sessions parallel the 'school year' (ie. into June, 2022), and we request that applicants for the role be prepared to commit for more than 6 months, ideally for the whole of the school year, in order to promote continuity and consistency in the tutoring process. |
