CONNECT 4 LIFE's Mission is to enhance the potential of individuals with disabilities by strengthening their independence and contributions to society, and to promote positive social change by transforming public perception.The role of Volunteer Communications Director is intended to provide a suitable volunteer with a valuable opportunity to use and add to talent, skills, and experience in the 'business communications' field, with the benefit of 'networking' and the means to build relationships and career access. AND as a key Connect 4 Life volunteer, the ideal candidate will be instrumental in improving and enhancing our 'connectivity'.


Our Volunteer Communications Director will be engaged as follows:

  • Responsible for managing and directing internal and external communications
  • Create, implement, and evaluate communications strategies (with emphasis on putting 'virtual' communication in place, effectively and facilitatively for Connect 4 Life staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and the public at large)
  • Collaborate in planning that aligns with the organization's Strategic Plan
  • Engage in market research, trends analysis that relate to our Mission
  • Implement procedures/processes to facilitate communication and realization of measurable objectives -
  • 'Social Media' > Support and collaborate in research and develop content for Connect 4 Life social media platforms and blog
  • Provide status updates on Twitter and other social sites, plus drive traffic to the Connect 4 Life website

>>> In this 'role', you also will serve as a member of our Board of Directors for a ONE YEAR term

  • Minimum Age - 21
  • Excellent ENGLISH oral/written communication and associated skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of current/trending communications technology (esp. 'virtual' connectivity - Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.)
  • Experience in effective writing of articles, correspondence, and promotions
  • Comfortable with, and effective in, navigating 'social media' and its platforms (eg. Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Linkedin, etc.)
  • Experience in media relations and associated 'networking'
  • Appreciation for, and commitment to participate in, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the communities served by Connect 4 Life
  • Past leadership role(s) in the community (esp. the volunteer sector) would be helpful

This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2022-07-11 AND ending 2022-07-04

SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE: Volunteer's hours will be scheduled to suit the requirements of the role, plus in your capacity as Chairperson - Marketing & Communications Committee, you are expected to be head of your committee during its meetings, and you will report to the Board of Trustees regularly and attend its meetings, when requested. Ongoing mar/comm management/supervision and addressing special projects will entail further volunteer hours, to be discussed, then planned. 


ORIENTATION and TRAINING appropriate for the 'position' and the volunteer's level of skill/experience will be provided.
